On Wednesday, October 6, at 5 p.m., local, classically trained artist Gerald Roulette speaks about his artistic process and his painting “The Great I Am,” now installed in UP’s Clark Library. Through his creative process, Roulette wanted to express Christ’s love and sacrifice for all humanity. “The Great I Am,” a work of abstract realism, depicts Christ as a person of color, speaking to the need for all of us to see representations of ourselves in the deity of Christ. The event will be held live in the Brian Doyle Auditorium (Dundon-Berchtold 004) and also via Zoom. Sponsored by the Clark Library, Office of the Provost, Garaventa Center, and Performing & Fine Arts. Please RSVP to let us know you plan to attend and to receive updated safety information and the Zoom link. To RSVP or for ADA accommodations, please contact us at libraryevents@up.edu or 503-943-7775.
