The Office of Student Activities is hosting an outing on the Fair Housing Council of Oregon’s “Fasten Your Seat Belts- It’s Been a Bumpy Ride” bus tour on Thursday, April 20. The tour explores Portland’s hidden history of housing discrimination, including the ghosts of lost ethnic communities, Klan rallies, and locations where Japanese Oregonians were interned during World War II. It features on-site presentations by local experts who lived through these tragic parts of history.
This is a very rare opportunity; reserving the bus tour is limited due to its incredible popularity. As such, the Office of Student Activities will request official excused absences for any students who wish to attend this event. This event is open to all students, staff, and faculty.
The bus will leave from University of Portland at 8:00 a.m. and the tour lasts until 12 p.m. (with a potential lunch from 12-2 p.m.). RSVP to attend at https://uportland.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_b8cL3U5AbMn0fWd by Wednesday, April 5. Don’t delay as space for this tour is very limited.
