Lavender Celebration is a meaningful way to honor and uplift LGBTQ students and allies, and to create a supportive and inclusive space for them to feel recognized and appreciated. It is a time to reflect on the challenges and triumphs that these students have faced throughout their academic journey, and to show them that their identities are valued and respected.

By hosting Lavender Celebration, the University of Portland is making a powerful statement of support for LGBTQ students and allies, and a testament to the university’s ongoing efforts to foster a culture of respect, love and celebration of all identities.

During the event, students will receive lavender cords from the UP Gender & Sexuality Partnership (GSP) and rainbow cords from the Center for Gender and Sexuality. Students are encouraged to proudly wear both at commencement!

For more information, contact Gregory Pulver at centergs@up.edu or 503.943.8183.
