Aziz Inan, engineering, had his article, “Remembering Phillip H. Smith on his 100th Birthday,” as an external link for Phillip H. Smith (1905-1987), the inventor of the Smith chart: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phillip_Hagar_Smith. Inan presented and published the article in the 2005 IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society International Symposium Digest, Volume 3B, pp. 129-132, Washington, D.C., July 3-8, 2005. That same year before the symposium, Inan had the opportunity to travel to New Jersey and visit Smith’s wife, Anita Smith, in their original house, and she was able to provide a few corrections in his article.

Jones also sat on a panel, “Dialogue with the Deans,” at the ASCE Post National Conference at the Oregon Convention Center, Portland, Ore., on Saturday, October 1 and presented “American Engineering Education for the 21st Century: A Northwest Perspective” with moderators James Hamann, CEO & President, Otak, Inc., and Blaine Leonard, P.E., D.GE, Intelligent Transportation System Program Manager, Utah Department of Transportation, Salt Lake City, Utah.
