Laura Mood, nursing, as part of her Butine funding for Spring 2016, completed the following four presentations at the PacRim International Disability and Diversity conference in Honolulu, Hawaii: “Outsider within leadership teams: A strategy for successful disability research (25 min. podium); “The Disability Closet: Conditions that Ease the Coming Out Process from the Perspectives of Persons with Learning Disabilities Pursuing Nursing Careers” (poster), “Recruitment and Retention of Women with Physical Disabilities in Health Research” (poster), “Resilience: A salient factor in the successful transition to practice of person with learning disabilities pursuing careers in nursing” (25 min podium).
Dann Pierce and Bohn Lattin, communication studies, had their study “The Odd Case of Ned Flanders: Satire, Religion, and American Cultural Expectations” accepted as a chapter in the book Jesus on the Small Screen: Christianity in Television Programming by Lexington Books.
Sharon Jones, engineering, presented and had her paper, “Two-tiered Summer Bridge Programming for At-risk Engineering and Computer Science Students,” (with Caitlin Cairncross) published in proceedings of Envisioning the Future of Undergraduate STEM Education: Research and Practice, Washington D.C., April 2016.
