Blair Woodard, history, is currently serving as the historical consultant for the Artist Repertory play Cuba Libre. The play is opening at the Winningstad Theater in Portland and will run October 10 – November 8.
Martin Monto, sociology, received the Hugo Beigel Award for Scholarly Excellence from the Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality. The award goes to the best paper published in their journal the Journal of Sex Research, and was a chosen from 70 others papers. Monto co-authored the paper with former student Anna Carey.
Aaron Wootton, mathematics, co-organized and co-chaired a special session on “Automorphisms of Riemann Surfaces and Related Topics” at the American Mathematical Society Fall Sectional Meeting at Loyola University in Chicago. He also delivered a talk during that session entitled “Sufficiency of the Riemann-Hurwitz Formula for the Existence of a Group Action.”
Thompson Faller, philosophy emeritus, was installed as Lieutenant during the 2015 Meeting of the Northwestern Lieutenancy of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem held September 18 to 21 in Anchorage, Alaska. He replaces Her Excellency Lady Mary O’Brien, who became a member of the Grand Magisterium. Faller’s official title is His Excellency Sir Dr. Thompson M. Faller, Knight of the Grand Cross. The Northwest Lieutenancy is one of 62 in the world, and is comprised of the states of Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Montana, Idaho, Northern California, Utah and Northern Nevada. There are approximately 550 members in the NW Lt., of which 48 active members reside in Oregon.
