Moodle is getting an upgrade!

In December, the office of Academic Technology Services will upgrade Moodle to version 4.1 (from 3.9). This upgrade will bring some visual enhancements and some nice new features to our learning management system.

Upgraded Calendar

A new calendar tool will show due dates and important events aggregated all onto one calendar on the Moodle dashboard. Coursework and exam dates appear automatically and make tracking important upcoming events a snap.

Course Navigation

“My Courses” has a new tab; see all courses, past, present, and future in one location. Hop to a course quickly with a new search bar.

Notify Learners of Changes to Course Content

This feature enables instructors to send a notification to their students when they create a new activity or make any changes to an existing one.

Quiz and Assignment Improvements

The “Quiz” activity has improved in Moodle 4.1 via flexibility within the question bank allowing teachers to analyze the success of particular types of questions within quizzes. The introduction of time assignments allows teachers to set time-based activities.

The office of ATSI will post training opportunities and additional information in the coming months. Please contact Brad Kerr (kerr@up.edu) with any questions or concerns.
