Lora Looney interviews visiting comedy playwright Emilio Williams, a Writing Fellow in the MFA program at the Art Institute of Chicago and author of Smartphones, Medea’s Got Some Issues and Hamlet, My Nephew among other works. In preparation for a comedy adaptation workshop designed for Spanish students and using a famous Hollywood film as a starting point, they discuss how to poke fun at gender stereotypes in Spain’s theatre canon. Emilio discusses his own plays and the writing strategies he employs to make us laugh.
