You’re working along on a report and suddenly, your computer screen goes blank. “I saved recently” you think to yourself, “it will be fine once I reboot.” You attempt to reboot, without success, even though the power cable is firmly plugged in. This is when you realize the only place your document is saved. . . is on the computer itself.
Saving one’s work often is a common part of our consciousness now a days- but even so, you can still lose valuable work if you don’t save in the RIGHT place. On device storage is susceptible to loss in the event of a device failure, or in the event of a lost/stolen device.
So, where best to save to ensure you can access your documents again from another device if needed? UP offers a couple of great options- your University U: or P: drives, and OneDrive. For more information on those storage options, see this article: Options for Storing and Backing Up Data.
And, please remember to never leave a University laptop or mobile device in your vehicle or unattended in a public place to protect against theft (if you are curious about IS policies such as the Mobile Device Policy or Theft and Loss Policy, check out our IS Policies page).
