At the beginning of the semester, Brianna Tade won tickets to see Lucky Daye’s show here in Portland. Check out her review of the show below.

R&B. Soul. Funk. There really isn’t one genre to pin on up-and-coming artist, Lucky Daye. He kicked off his tour in Portland at the Hawthorne Theatre on Friday, September 20th. David Debrandon Brown (Lucky Daye) emanates a fresh, R&B sound with modern elements of pop. He combined synth tracks with live acoustics and percussion all coming together in a fun show from beginning to end.

One of his more well-known songs, “Late Night”, had the crowd moving and buzzing with this positive energy that could be seen throughout the venue. He then performed more soulful, ballad-like songs like “Misunderstood” and “Floods” in which he really broadcasted some outstanding vocals. By putting a modern twist on classic R&B and soul, Lucky Daye was able to captivate his audience with a plethora of emotions and good vibes all night long.
