It is…….concert review time! Our Music director Allie was able to score a couple of free tickets to a Crumb show in Portland. A big thanks to ticket recipient Taylor Jacobson for this awesome review!
The Perfect Band for a Playlist Where The Underlying Theme Is Songs That Would Sound Good Underwater: Crumb
Crumb performed at Crystal Ballroom, the venue was very crowded. This concert was the first time I have ever been in the 21+ section, so that was fun but honestly I have learned that the 21+ section at a concert is just a place for people to hold their drinks and rowdiness is not tolerated. Anyways, when Crumb began playing, it was as if I had been transported underwater–their sound is ultimate chillwave and the concert was, in two words: a vibe. Lila Ramani, Crumb’s lead singer and lead guitarist, sings with an airiness and lightness that pairs well with the dreamy, sounds like as if it’s playing underwater guitar chords. I love it. The drums are very jazzy–kept most people in the crowd bobbing their heads the whole time. Not a very rage concert; most people kept their personal space and just vibed, which is cool. The concert felt like I was on a submarine listening to Crumb. Very sick. They mostly performed songs off their new album Jinx; with a few of the classic bangers, like “Locket” and “Vinta.” When I first listened to Jinx, I wasn’t necessarily impressed nor was I disappointed–it just felt like a meh album to me. However, after hearing Crumb perform it live, I was very impressed. Crumb puts on a great live show and have a very unique, yet nostalgic kind of sound. I would definitely attend another one of Crumb’s shows. If you like concerts that are very chill and want to vibe out, I highly recommend checking out Crumb’s live shows 10/10.
