This is The Wrecks’ second EP and it follows some of the same trends as their previous album, We Are the Wrecks. They explore love, relationships, and heartbreak. If your initial thought is that these songs may be too slow, you will be proven wrong. Each of the songs manage to keep the listener’s mood up and feet tapping. Heartbreak is explored in detail in the song “Way with Words.” This song starts off slowly with “I dropped your things off late last night/I saw your mom she said goodbye/ Is this what you wanted?” until it reaches its climax with “You want to make up for lost time/ Act like the last time was nothing at all/ You think I waited up all night, you’re out of your damn mind/ Don’t lie to yourself/ Nothing you can say can change the way I hate your guts right now.” Overall this EP goes through a story. It starts with trying to figure things out to the break up, and in the end getting over the heart break. It walks you through each stage of a break up: trying to figure things out, the break up, and in the end, getting over the heart break. But The Wrecks manage to stay upbeat and keeps you focused on the music. This EP is the perfect thing to listen to if you are getting over a bad break up, or even just because.
