Spring 2017
CST391/BUS391 Design Thinking and Cross-Disciplinary Research is an applied introduction to design thinking tools and techniques open to undergraduates from all schools and departments. Students will be exposed to design thinking as a lens for applied research, including problem definition, ideation, and problem-solving tools adapted from human-centered design. Using the vibrant city of Portland as a laboratory, students will work on cross-disciplinary teams to develop skills as ethnographers, visual thinkers, strategists, and storytellers in order to address real-world problems. Drawing on a diverse set of readings, media content, case studies, lectures, and exercises students will directly apply what they have learned to address a challenge about which they are passionate.
