November 8th is election day, and this year is a critical election for us, not only because of the presidential race, but also because of local candidates and ballot measures. Local elections are where your vote really matters and where you will feel the most impact of the new policies you vote on.
Oregonians vote by mail, and this is one of the best states in terms of making voting accessible to all. You can fill out your ballot with black or blue pen and mail it in or drop it off at an official ballot box in your neighborhood.
This year there are over 230,000 new registered voters here in Oregon thanks to last year’s Motor Voter Law. But being registered to vote isn’t enough. 50% of these new registrants are under the age of 35, and many are students like you and have never voted before.
We need your help. We are seeking students to join the team to knock on doors and encourage your neighbors to vote. Talking to the new voters in your neighborhood is the best way to get them to vote- you can make a huge impact on your community just by taking a walk with your friends.
Everyone needs to hear from voters like you about why it’s important and how easy it is to vote in Oregon. It’s up to you and me to get these new voters to turnout come Election Day. Please, Sign up to help!
