Wait. What do you mean I’m supposed to be making a graduation plan? I think we’re getting a little ahead of ourselves, don’t you? I’m still stuck studying for tests in a week and you’re asking me to plan the rest of my year?
Well, yes.
This past week I’ve been setting up my graduation plan as it seems we’re already planning ahead for second semester. The realization that I only have three semesters left at UP after this fall hit me hard. Suddenly, I had too many things to do and not enough time to do any of them. Figuring out my schedule for another year just seemed to add to the drama.
Looking at your graduation plan adds finality to your tenure at college. It seems like I was just rolling onto campus, a blank slate. Now I’m wrapped up in a blanket, rushing to get last minute homework items in order as well as rushing through note cards to make sure I have all the information locked in my brain. Not to mention an unexpected power outage propelled my panic for a couple hours last night.
On a quick side note – candles are quite useful in power outages but only when they have a way to be lit. Scrambling around in the dark for the lighter inevitably culminates in slamming your toe into the table, knocking several electronics to the ground in your fall and laying pitifully on the ground in the dark. 0/10 would not recommend.
Back to graduation plans. I’ve probably gone through mine about 30 times and am sure I’ve forgotten something. Looking back at your classes helps you realize which ones you’ve thoughtfully ignored for the past two and a half years and suddenly need to take. Hello public speaking 107. Look for me next year to be the senior in a sea of freshman, woefully out of place.
My advice is to take your classes on time. Otherwise you’ll end up taking 400 and 100 classes simultaneously, wondering how you could do this to yourself. But we’re all smarter than that, right? (no)
In a couple of weeks I’ll be registering for spring semester, forgetting all about my midterms (help) and looking forward to Christmas break. I don’t know where the time has gone! I’m 83% sure it’s still July and I can’t believe it’s not 2008. Some wonders never cease.
UP Observation: I’ve noticed an astonishing number of crows moving suspiciously across campus the past couple of weeks. I’m not sure if it’s something natural or if it’s the government tracking our movements. Either way the crows are (probably) vicious and are everywhere.
