Nonprofit Productive + CCMA
Q&A with Michael St. Pierre Ed.D.
Tell us a bit about yourself?
I am the Executive Director for the Catholic Campus Ministry Association (CCMA), a professional network of chaplains and campus ministers who work on over 300 campuses in the U.S. I am also the founder of Nonprofit Productive, a service to the nonprofit sector.
I got my first job as a youth minister in a Catholic parish in 1997. From there, I spent 15 years in schools and for the past seven, as the E.D. For CCMA.
Advice to someone considering a career in the Nonprofit sector?
The advice I would have for anyone looking to work in the nonprofit sector is twofold:
a) Order your personal life such that you can absorb changes in the market and changes in your job. Don’t feel that you have to keep up with the Jones family or that you have to implement the latest fad.
b) Start your day with a plan and a list of things to do and then do this every single day of the week. Over time, others will notice that your work ethic is consistent and delivers results. You’ll stand out from the crowd.
How can the University of Portland community support CCMA and Nonprofit Productive?
The University of Portland can support CCMA’s work through active participation in our events and membership. Related to Nonprofit productive, I welcome the opportunity to work with any graduates who want to achieve greater productivity.
