Congratulations to Guyanna Bedington who is being awarded an NEWH Scholarship at the Northwest NEWH Savor Event hosted on October 28, 2021 in Seattle, WA. Bedington will be graduating from the University of Portland in May of 2022 and is completing a major in Finance from the Pamplin School of Business.
Last year, Guyanna participated a year-long University of Portland Entrepreneur Scholars program, aimed to teach students foundational business skills needed to develop, test, and eventually launch a business venture.
Guyanna used this program to further develop her innovative ideas about the concept of the future hotel. Last year, Guyanna also conducted research on the hospitality industry in Portland, Oregon. Through this, she was able to interview leading local General Managers in the industry which helped her to develop a deeper understanding of the shifting needs of a hotel asset.
She is called to hospitality because after all, hospitality is centered around human connection. Although the hospitality industry has experienced historic losses, Guyanna is filled with optimism for the opportunities made possible by disrupters like technology, e-commerce, shifts in consumer preference, and real estate valuation. Guyanna sees business as the most efficient vehicle to help make the world a better place for all.
