lippman,ellen-9-lgEllen Lippman, a Chicago native, is a distinguished accounting professor at UP’s Pamplin School of Business. According to former students, Lippman sets high expectations for her classes and expects the most out of her students. However, she also works with her students to help them fully grasp challenging and confusing accounting principles. In particular, Lippman enjoys working with students as they consider ethical considerations of accounting choices and the ramifications of these choices in making financial statements transparent.  Students who major in accounting describe Lippman as an influential role model and the knowledge and skills gained from her classes as invaluable. Lippman has mentored student teams that have won accounting competitions at both the regional and national levels. Lippman comments, “UP students are wonderful! Really! Their excitement for learning is infectious.” In addition to serving on various boards of nonprofits as an accounting advisor, in her spare time Lippman enjoys dancing and biking, as well as traveling to Israel where the major religions of the world thrive and at times collide.
