International Advisory Board of the Faculty of Economics (IAB) Mission

The IAB’s mission is to advise the Faculty on international strategy and help strengthen its global relationships. They aim to:

  • Share best practices in business and economics education.
  • Support the internationalisation and development of teaching staff.
  • Highlight trends and “driving forces” shaping higher education, such as the rise of modern learners, hybrid learning, and the need for new skills.
  • Foster partnerships between academia and the business sector.
  • Create spaces for constructive dialogue and strategic innovation.
  • Ultimately, help the Faculty equip students to thrive in a fast-changing, globally connected world.

Coordinator of the IAB Board: Benedetto Cannatelli

As Coordinator of the International Advisory Board (IAB) for the Faculty of Economics at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, my role is to facilitate the Board’s work as a strategic think tank for the Faculty.

I organize meetings, curate agendas, and ensure that insights from our diverse international members — university leaders, corporate executives, and higher education experts — are translated into actionable recommendations for our strategic plan.

This includes aligning the IAB’s contributions with the Faculty’s priorities in teaching, research, and global engagement, while keeping an eye on emerging trends in higher education.

Dr. Holloway and IAB Connection

Mr. Cannatelli connected with Dr. Holloway through a mutual connection within the space of their common research and professional commitment in the Business Strategy area – specifically within the Craft Beer industry. They established great alignment and engaged in a number of collaboration opportunities such as research papers (presented last year in an academic conference in Milan) and hosting a group of our students during a faculty led program they had in Portland last summer.

Mr. Cannatelli states that Dr. Holloway’s expertise will help the Board by:

    • Strengthening its understanding of North American higher education trends.
    • Developing strategies for interdisciplinary and inclusive learning models.
    • Expanding the Faculty’s global alliances and student mobility opportunities.
    • Directly advancing the Board’s mission of making our programs more internationally competitive and impactful.

The University of Portland community can support our cause by:

      • Participating in joint research projects and faculty exchanges.
      • Hosting our students for study abroad or internship experiences.
      • Sharing insights on innovative teaching, sustainability, and community engagement initiatives.
