Blanchet House Helps students and Families During the PPS Strike
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Blanchet House is welcoming students and families affected by the Portland Public Schools teachers’ strike to help the community by volunteering with them. They have various ways students can help from home or on-site at their service center in Downtown Portland.
Students aged 13 and under in grades K-8 can help from home or with an affinity group by making sack lunches, assembling care kits, and collecting bottles and cans for refunds.

Blanchet House Saves Man During Overdose
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Some of the staff at Blanchet House are being hailed as heroes after their quick actions helped save the life of a man overdosing.
The staff members were having lunch when an unconscious man was pulled out of a nearby tent.
The nonprofit said the man’s friend had already administered two doses of Narcan, which reverses an opioid overdose, when a staff member rushed over with a third dose and revived him. Two volunteer nurses then stepped in to assist.

Volunteer Opportunities at the Blanchet House During PPS Strike
PORTLAND, Ore. (KPTV) – The Portland Public Schools strike has many parents looking for ways to keep their kids occupied when they would normally be in school, and one local nonprofit has a way to help.
The Blanchet House is well known for providing food, clothing and even shelter to people in need, and they want people to know that they offer volunteer opportunities for kids of all ages.
Kids from kindergarten through senior year are allowed to volunteer for Blanchet House. What they can do and where they can do it does depend on age.
