We are happy to report that Anna Murphy, Senior Business major and president of the University of Portland Speech and Debate Union, advanced to the semifinals placing 3rd in the Pi Kappa Delta National Debate Tournament held in Lexington Kentucky March 16-20, 2016. Dean Robin Anderson, of the Pamplin School of Business said, “Anna’s third place finish is an outstanding achievement and when our students excel in this way it not only reflects the talent and effort of the student but the quality of the UP faculty.” Bohn David Lattin, Associate Professor of Communication Studies and co-director of the University of Portland Speech and Debate Union, said, “Personally, I can tell you that having Anna as a part of the University of Portland Speech and Debate Union for the past four years has been one of my greatest honors. She is not only incredibly intelligent and articulate, but Anna guides her speech and behavior by a strong moral and ethical compass.” The students, staff and faculty are thrilled to wish Anna every success.
