How did a business graduate degree help you?

My graduate degree helped open many doors for me in my career. The course work helped prepare me for a diverse career in business management that would take me all the way to Alaska and south to Houston and Florida.

What are you doing now?

After 13 years in Alaska working in oil and gas, I have recently moved to Florida to lead mergers and acquisitions for Crowley. It is a very exciting time to be doing in-house M&A.

Any advice for someone considering an MBA?

Utilize the opportunities and people that an MBA will provide. University of Portland’s graduate professors provided real-life context to classes and helped bridge the academic and professional environments. I can remember a time with Dr. Feldman brought in angel investors to talk about investing. I still remember that conversation to this day and now talk frequently with investors and start-ups.
