QuickTakes Q&A ~

Please share a brief Bio:

I am currently an Executive Director & Treasury Management Consultant at Wells Fargo in the Commercial Banking office in Portland.  Most of my 26-year career has been dedicated to the consultative selling of complex treasury management solutions to middle market companies ($100 million + in annual revenue) in Oregon.

I develop strategic sales plans, lead high-impact client engagements, and deliver tailored financial services that optimize a company’s working capital, mitigate fraud and provide ERP systems integration services.

I also serve as a trusted mentor, trainer, and internal training course collaborator.

Why did you select University of Portland for your degree program?

I chose the University of Portland School of Business because it offered the ideal combination of community connection, academic excellence, and flexibility. Being located in my own neighborhood, the program felt like a natural extension of my community involvement.

The faculty included fantastic professors who brought both academic rigor and real-world experience to the classroom.

Most importantly, the program’s flexible structure allowed me to progress at my own pace. This enabled me to fully maximize my employer’s tuition reimbursement program while balancing professional responsibilities, a family, and continued leadership development.

What are you doing now since graduating from UP?

Since graduating from the University of Portland, I’ve continued in my role at Wells Fargo Bank.  I now feel better equipped with a broader set of capabilities and deeper knowledge.  This makes me a more effective and strategic consultant for the customers and prospects in my portfolio.

I appreciate how every class offered something directly applicable to my current role—enhancing my ability to deliver value, solve complex challenges, and lead with greater confidence.

What advice would you give to someone considering a Graduate degree or Certificate at UP?

Start as soon as you feel even a spark of interest. I spent several years debating whether to go back to school, waiting for the “perfect” time—which never really comes.

The flexible structure of the University of Portland MBA program made it manageable to take one class at a time and even skip a term when needed. That flexibility was key to balancing school with work and life.

Beyond the academics, the networking opportunities with fellow students and professors has been incredibly valuable and continue to benefit me personally and professionally.
