What has the Pamplin School of Business taught you in terms of having a global acumen?
” Through challenging classes and a diverse array of educational opportunities, the Pamplin School of Business has sparked in me a desire to maintain an open mind as I strive to learn from others in all that I do. Being educated and informed on global issues, business-related and beyond, is a crucial aspect of global acumen that is consistently encouraged and enhanced by PSOB.
PSOB encourages participation in study abroad programs and other international opportunities, and I believe getting out into the world is the best way to transform one’s perspective from U.S.-centric to a big picture, global mindset.
During my time at UP, I have been afforded two trans-formative opportunities to develop my global acumen through international studies, travels and work. My study abroad program in Spain was a complete cultural and language immersion experience, and additional travels through Europe further enhanced my global understanding. I also participated in an internship program in Southeast Asia, and my experiences working and traveling in this part of the world added another rich dimension to my developing global mindset. I credit PSOB for encouraging me to seek out these opportunities and for preparing me to be purposeful in my global endeavors.
Through countless interactions with diverse peoples, cultures and ways of life, I have learned the importance of listening without preconceptions and truly striving to learn from every experience; this sentiment is frequently echoed by PSOB, and an emphasis on global acumen is something I will continue to develop and nurture throughout my life. “
