Senior business students gave back to the Portland nonprofit community through their Senior Capstone classes. Dr. Sam Holloway led the students in a live case study with local nonprofit organizations, including The Shadow Project, St. Andrew Nativity School, Menucha Retreat and Conference Center, and the Red Sea Church. Students were tasked with developing an innovative, cost effective business recommendation to a current focus issue within each nonprofit.
After five weeks of intensive study, students presented their recommendations to nonprofit executives and received rave reviews. The Shadow Project Executive Director, Christy Scattarella, had this to say about the experience, “We were so impressed by the students’ innovation, thought, attention to detail and their tremendous enthusiasm for The Shadow Project.” Senior business student, David Vondracek, valued working with the organization, stating, “It was a great opportunity to get a sense of working in a real business environment. Our group took great pride in being able to provide suggestions on how The Shadow Project could build community awareness.”
