About the Dundon-Berchtold Institute

The Dundon-Berchtold Institute for Moral Formation & Applied Ethics creates and facilitates experiences and conversations to promote the formation of personal character and the practical application of ethics. Through curricular offerings, co-curricular partnerships, and community conversations, the Dundon-Berchtold Institute seeks to inspire individuals and communities toward positive character development and ethical action in pursuit of the common good.

Kick-off Event! Learning Labs workshop – Habits, Values, and Virtues 
June 16, 2021 – 4pm – 5:30 pm (PST)

Hosted via Zoom [90 min]

Join us for this kick-off session to introduce the new Business and Ethics series!
This session will be led by Dan McGinty and Hannah Pick, Dundon-Berchtold Institute. The program will include breakout groups and will conclude with a final Q&A.

Who should attend? Current MBAs, business graduate students and alumni, prospective graduate students interested in learning about the virtues that University of Portland integrates into curriculum. Managers and professionals aspiring to be directors of programming and/or teams.


 

Business-Ethics Storytelling Experience

 

Business-Ethics & Storytelling Experience
July 21, 2021, 4pm – 5:30pm (PST)

Hosted via Zoom [90 min]

Members of our UP community will be invited to participate as storytellers to share real life ethical dilemmas that they personally encountered. Storytellers will spend time sharing the details about her/his dilemma, all the way up to the choice being made.

There will be a Q&A between the storyteller and participants. The evening is not about trying to make the “best” decision or to solve the dilemmas, but rather to engage in exercise to stretch and develop some decision-making muscles.

 Women in Business Ethics Roundtable
August 18, 2021, 4pm – 5:30pm (PST) Hosted via Zoom [90 min]

Meet and network with TOP female executives! Panelists and guests will include:
Dawn Moore, Intel Corp., Head of Data Center Group; Caroline Brabrook, AVP Michael Baker International; Jennifer Anderson, Nike Global Finance Data Operations Director; Theresa Trelstad, Principal Trelstad Communications; Hannah Pick, Dundon-Berchtold Institute and more! This roundtable will consist of executive-level professionals who will participate in a panel answering questions about business and ethics integrated into their daily work functions and the challenges they have overcome over the past year. Q&A with audience to follow.
