During your student’s time at University of Portland, they will explore new experiences and will make choices regarding their health, safety, and well-being here on The Bluff. To help understand our community standards, make well-informed decisions, and know what to do if they or someone else needs support or resources, the University of Portland requires all student to complete two online training modules: AlcoholEdu and Sexual Assault Prevention.
AlcoholEdu is an online, alcohol education course required for all incoming first-year students. AlcoholEdu applies science-based research to educate students about alcohol and its related effects on your wellness, academic success, and personal development.
Sexual Assault Prevention (SAP) is an interactive online course that educates all students on the issues associated with sexual assault and interpersonal violence. During their time on campus, students will hear about Title IX, which is a federal law that prohibits sex discrimination– including sexual harassment and sexual violence–in any program at a federally funded institution of higher education. SAP helps students learn about healthy relationships, the definition of consent, and ways to help create a positive, safe campus community.
All students will receive access information to these modules in the weeks preceding the start of the Fall term. Completion of these modules is a university-wide requirement, as we hope to promote shared values and knowledge for all members of the Pilot community on The Bluff.
Students who do not complete the modules by September 13, 2019 will receive a hold on their student account. This hold will affect a student’s ability to register for future courses, withdraw from any current courses, or request a transcript. Encourage your student to complete the modules so that they are not impacted by these holds.
