Keynote Speaker: Mike Malin – VP of IT Product & Merchandising Solutions at NIKE.

It takes a team with exceptional talent, energy, and collaborative spirit to win, and he has a passion for bringing people together to do exactly that. Over the course of his career he have hired and led teams of up to 500 individuals and intentionally worked across multiple business organizations to drive strategy and innovation within Nike. He is fueled by finding solutions to problems and creating strategies that win. He has managed teams both large and small, and he is currently working with a crew of 150 leading all Products and Merchandising Systems. They champion Nike’s mission every day in everything that they do – bringing innovation and inspiration to every athlete in the world.

Breakout Session 1: Vikas Sharma – Intel Corporation
Director, Algorithms Pathfinding for Business, IT

“Trends and challenges for business in the new world of AI.”

Vikas Sharma is Director of Algorithms Pathfinding for Business, with focus on Analytics, at Intel. His group’s charter is to identify big problems across the company, some may not even be known to have a feasible solution, and tackle them through AI and Machine Learning. His group’s problems range from identifying future technology trends to product planning, development and pricing, supply-demand balancing and sales and marketing. Vikas earned a PHD in algorithms from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1996 after which he joined Intel’s Process Development R&D where he led development of test technologies on many process nodes before forming this path-finding group over 3 years ago.

Breakout Session 2: Keith Burton – Intel Corporation Director of IT Marketing Solutions

“Using research, marketing, and processes to manage Intel.com operations and communications across 50 different languages.”

Keith Burton is currently the IT director of Marketing Solutions at Intel corporation. Keith has spent his career leading teams enabling and building digital solutions for many different business functions. He has been involved with digital transformations as well as building agile and DevOps organizations. Previously he was a consultant working directly for Intel and IBM.

OTM Symposium Introduction: Jim Ravelli – Vice President of University Operations at the University of Portland.

Jim Ravelli, VP of Operations at the University of PortlandJim Ravelli is the Vice President of University Operations, and was appointed chief information officer for the University of Portland in August 2008 and vice president for university operations in 2010. He oversees the Offices of Information Services, Facilities Planning and Construction, and the Physical Plant, as well as campus master planning and neighborhood and government relations.  Previously, he has served as vice president, service delivery for EasyStreet Online Services, based in Beaverton; senior director, global IT Operations (acting CIO) for VMware in Palo Alto, Calif.; CIO and director of IT Infrastructure for Brocade Communications in San Jose, Calif.; and founder and president of Archinetix, Incorporated, based in Portland.

(Moderator) Lisa McCaffrey

Lisa is an alumnus from the University of Portland, graduating with an MBA in Operations and Technology Management. While at University, she was selected as a Pamplin Fellow with her work in support of the faculty and department of OTM. After graduation, she has worked in the manufacturing industry with her focus on project management, process improvement and supply chain. Additionally, she is serving on the APICS Board of Directors as the Director of Student Chapters for the University of Portland.
