Usefulness of Reference/Instruction Support – Undergraduates

We asked undergraduate students to rate the usefulness of various research support services: classes with librarians, student and librarian reference assistance, Library Chat, subject & course guides, etc. Among all respondents, our new subject & course guides take first place, followed by the library page in PilotsUP.

We learned that many undergraduates are not aware of these support tools the Library offers that could make their life easier:

  • RefWorks — formats citations in APA, Chicago, MLA, etc. style
  • Library Chat — connects to the Research Desk
  • Assignment Calculator — helps manage time
  • LibX Library Toolbar — allows quick search for library materials at UP and beyond

The percentages presented below exclude respondents who had not yet used or were not aware of those services; the bar charts represent the full range of responses.
