If you’re looking for something to ease the transition back to school post-spring break, KDUP has just the thing. Bring your ears (and the rest of you, for that matter) to Mehling Hall this Thursday night at 7pm to hear rising Portland singer-songwriter Haley Heynderickx for an evening of unforgettable musicianship.

Oregon native and PSU graduate Haley Heynderickx creates music that is as informed by punk rock as it is by folk. Initially drawn to electric guitar, her music is a delicate combination of eclectic chords and dramatic lyricism, reminiscent of Joanna Newsom, Angel Olsen, and a bevy of classic country powerhouses. Once described to me as “doom folk,” her music offers something for listeners of every taste as it combines folk stylings and grungy undertones, powered by quiet vocals hinting at something louder. She’s already playing on the local circuit with everyone from Chris Pureka to La Luz to Lola Kirke, and it won’t be long before she’s the buzziest act in PDX. So don’t miss this opportunity to catch her at UP for free and start the final sprint of the semester off to an excellent start!

The show will be held in Mehling Hall on Thursday 3/23 at 7pm. For ADA accommodations, contact Emily Nelson at nelsone19@up.edu
