Check out Antonella Fillet’s review of the Cautious Clay concert she attended!

Cautious Clay, most known for his song “Cold War,” is an R&B, hip-hop artist of many talents. Relatively new to the music world, the 26 year old only began pursuing music full-time after graduating Georgetown University just a few years ago. It is clear that music has followed him through his life, as the talent that came through in his performance was unmistakable.

Through his use of vocals and instruments, the audience could not help, but fall into a trance from this performer. Having watched Cautious Clay’s tiny desk concert and performances on NPR, we expected a concert with the occasional flute or saxophone interruption. What we did not expect was his incredible use of vocals, flute, saxophone, and electric guitar, each introducing and subtly feeding off the next. He performed nearly every song from his three, small, yet powerful albums and matched his music with his energy as a performer, never hinting that he may be new to performing or touring. Watching Cautious Clay was a treat and an experience one cannot get only from tuning into his music through headphones, but I would highly recommend and encourage giving him a listen nonetheless.
