Pierre Teihard de Chardin (1881-1955)

Viewed by many as the quintessential embodiment of the dialogue between religion and science, Teihard de Chardin was a Jesuit priest, scientist, poet, and mystic. His excellent and most well-known book, The Phenomenon of Man (available online in PDF and HTML), discusses the idea of a collective unconscious, whereby the universe has a consciousness or psyche.

Joseph Sittler (1904–1987)

One of the first professional theologians to seriously consider the implications of environmental ethics on Christian faith, Sittler argued that the natural world was within the scope of salvation as envisioned by the Bible.

 

H. Paul Santmire

Argues that the Christian idea of “stewardship” should not be solely for the good of humanity but rather for the well-being of the natural world itself.
