It’s that time of the year again- Wordstock is back! Wordstock is an annual festival featuring over 150 authors and hundreds of independent publishers, non-profit organizations, independent booksellers, and more. It is the largest book and readings festival in the Pacific Northwest, and it’s right here in Portland.
Whether you’re an English major/minor or not, Wordstock is the place to be– it’s like the Quidditch World Cup of the bibliophile world. There are even workshops called Wordstock for Writers that are geared toward teaching and connecting to young contemporary writers like yourselves.
The festival takes place from October 3-6 at the Oregon Convention Center. Student admission is only $5, and you can purchase your tickets here or at the door. Featured authors include A.M. Homes, Jamie Ford, and Jeanne Birdsall. Be sure to check out the writer’s workshops, panels, and book fair over this three-day event of the season. Gather ‘round to check out your favorite authors and some new ones too.
Interesting in getting more involved? Volunteer at Wordstock’s book fair Oct. 5-6. Aside from participating in this infinitely cool literary festival, being a volunteer at Wordstock has other perks: free admission into the book fair, even on the day you’re not volunteering. Contact volunteer@bewordstock.org for any questions and hope to see you all there!
