Work

I’m a labor economist interested in low wage workers in the United States, workers disadvantaged by low levels of education, by low levels of experience, or by discrimination stemming from gender or ethnicity. My research has analyzed the situation of low wage workers by making various comparisons among metropolitan labor markets.  More recently, it has looked at ways to improve the teaching of topics in income inequality and quantitative methods.

In the last five years, my teaching has been in introductory economics, intermediate macroeconomics, health economics, and income inequality. On the left menu, I provide links to syllabi.
