I am currently an Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Portland. Previously, I was a research fellow and adjunct lecturer at Colorado School of Mines in the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering. I completed my PhD in 2018 at Stanford University where I was advised by Dr. Richard Luthy (Stanford) through the NSF’s Engineering Research Center for Re-inventing the Nation’s Urban Water Infrastructure (ReNUWIt). The main focus of my research is investigating urban surface water and opportunities for its management, particularly in large and highly developed cities.
Prior to returning to graduate school, I worked as a water resources engineer in Boston, MA for an environmental consulting company. My research is strongly rooted in industry-relevant problems. I have an ongoing commitment to public engagement and education, from developing engineering curricula for K-12 students, creating stop-action animations to distill research findings for the public, and mentoring undergraduates on independent research projects.
I received a B.S. in Civil & Environmental Engineering from Tufts University and an M.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering, Environmental Fluid Mechanics and Hydrology from Stanford University. I grew up in Bethesda, Maryland.
I am a certified Professional Engineer in Oregon.
