The Willamette Anti-Erosion Versatile Energy System (WAVES)

2020-21 Engineering Capstone Team | Shiley School of Engineering | University of Portland

The WAVES Capstone Team at the University of Portland was tasked with addressing bank erosion concerns for homeowners along the Willamette River. The purpose of the WAVES project was to design and implement a wave attenuation device that dissipates at least 50% of the incoming wave energy produced by recreation boats on the Willamette River.

The WAVES Capstone Team consists of a mix of mechanical and civil engineering seniors at the University of Portland who will graduate in May 2021. They conducted tests at the University of Portland’s River Campus sitting on the banks of the beautiful Willamette River in Portland, Oregon.
