Chapel Open, Masses Return

prayerThe Chapel of Christ the Teacher renovations are complete and the chapel is open once again for prayer and regularly scheduled liturgies. Mass is celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Sundays, and Monday through Friday at 12:05 p.m. Reconciliation is scheduled every Wednesday from 5 to 5:30 p.m. For more information contact Theresa McCreary, campus ministry, at 7131 or mccreary@up.edu.

Chapel Reopening June 7

June 3, 2013

_G0S8931The Chapel of Christ the Teacher will reopen on Friday, June 7 with a 5 p.m. celebratory Mass and formal dedication of the new altar. June 7 is also the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart. All are invited to attend this wonderful celebration as it may be one of the few opportunities most people will have to participate in the solemn dedication of an altar. A reception under the portico of the chapel will follow the Mass. The renovation of the Chapel included new flooring, new altar and ambo, and a symbolic wall at the back of the sanctuary. For more information contact Theresa McCreary, campus ministry, at 7131 or mccreary@up.edu.

Chapel Closure Through June 7

Sunday 10:30 a.m. Masses and weekday 12:05 p.m. Masses will be celebrated in the Moreau Chapel in Christie Hall during this time. In addition, the parking lot behind the Chapel of Christ the Teacher will be closed to all non-construction traffic throughout the project. The Chapel of Christ the Teacher will be undergoing renovations to the floor and sanctuary and will be closed from Monday, May 6 through Friday, June 7, according to Theresa McCreary, campus ministry. Sunday 10:30 a.m. Masses and weekday 12:05 p.m. Masses will be celebrated in the Moreau Chapel in Christie Hall during this time.

In addition, the parking lot behind the Chapel of Christ the Teacher will be closed to all non-construction traffic throughout the project. Renovations will include installation of new wood parquet flooring, newly designed sanctuary including custom-built altar furniture and a custom-fabricated stone altar, and new skylights. Nominate For Oddo Scholarship

March 25, 2013

Shortly after his untimely death in 1989, Univer­sity president Rev. Thomas Oddo, C.S.C., was memorialized by faculty, staff, students, and friends with the establishment of an endowed scholarship fund named after him. Every year the University awards scholarship funds in Fr. Oddo’s name to one or more students who meet a set of criteria which includes demonstrated commitment to service and to service learning. Criteria for the Father Thomas C. Oddo, C.S.C. Memorial Scholarship are:

  • Minimum 3.0 G.P.A.
  • Demonstrated financial need
  • Junior or senior student standing in the 2013-2014 school year
  • Demonstrated commitment to service and service learning
  • Open to any academic major.
