Staff Holiday Luncheon

2019 Staff Christmas Luncheon, Dec. 16

The 2019 Staff Christmas Luncheon will take place on Monday, December 16, starting at 11:30 a.m., in the Beauchamp Recreation & Wellness Center.

The social will begin at 11:30 a.m., lunch starts at 12:15 p.m., and the formal program begins at 12:45 p.m. This will be a wonderful opportunity to connect with old friends and new, enjoy a delicious holiday buffet, enter to win prizes, and celebrate the achievements of your coworkers. University president Rev. Mark L. Poorman, C.S.C., will offer his annual Christmas message and well wishes. 
In keeping with tradition, we will once again present a photo slideshow. Please send photos of your department and staff to santa@up.edu. Christmas-themed photos are especially welcome. RSVP with regrets only to santa@up.edu.

Staff Holiday Luncheon, Dec. 19

UP ornamentAll staff members are invited to the University’s 2013 holiday party, which will take place on Thursday, December 19, in the Bauccio Commons. The social will begin at 11:30 a.m., with seating at 12:15 p.m., and the program begins at 1. The party will feature a holiday selection of fare from Bon Appetit’s food stations, annual employee award presentations, prize drawings, recognition of employees’ service to the University, and words of holiday cheer from Fr. Beauchamp. Please keep in mind that the holiday party is for staff only; with continued growth as a university community, there is not room available for student workers or family members.

Dave Houglum, Franz Center for Leadership, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation, completed a six-year commitment on the Board of Directors for the Maybelle Center for Community, with two of those years serving as the Executive Board Secretary. Founded by Fr. Richard Berg, C.S.C. (former Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at University of Portland from 1978-1991), the Maybelle Center disrupts social isolation so we can all experience a healthy, connected life and contribute to a thriving Portland.

Eli Goldwyn, mathematics, published “Calculating prescription rates and addiction probabilities for the four most commonly prescribed opioids and evaluating their impact on addiction using compartment modelling.” Mathematical Medicine and Biology: A Journal of the IMA, dqab001.

Aziz Inan, Shiley School of Engineering, published the article titled, “Numerical curiosities for Bob Moore’s 92nd birthday,” in Clackamas Review, Pamplin Media Group, Portland, Oregon, February 16, 2021.

Simon Aihiokhai, theology, was a manuscript reviewer for Springer’s Journal: SN Social Sciences.

Barbara Braband, Amber Vermeesch, Corey Pressman, nursing, published “Piloting the perfect Storm: A vision for the vital practitioner.” Journal of Nursing Education (accepted/in press).
