2017 Difference Award Winners

February 3, 2017

wally-pilot-bobblehead-university-of-portland-ncaa-mens-basketball-1-30-2016-1-copyThe athletic department would like to acknowledge this year’s winners of the Difference Award. Each year, student-athletes nominate a UP professor who has made a difference in their lives. The definition is left intentionally vague, allowing students to reflect on the many ways a professor may have made a difference to them. This year, four professors were selected as our winners:

  • Steven Cook, physics
  • Paddy McShane, philosophy
  • Lydia Towell, mathematics
  • Shazib Vijlee, engineering

These individuals will be honored at the men’s basketball game on Thursday, February 16, at 7 p.m., in the Chiles Center. Please come out and enjoy the game and congratulate our winners for their support of all students on campus, including our student-athletes.
