Salary Requirement Changes For Exempt Employment Positions
On May 18, 2016, the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) announced changes to the minimum salary requirement for exempt positions. According to DOL, staff positions that are paid less than $913 per week (or $47,476 per year) cannot be designated as exempt. This change is effective December 1, 2016, and will affect exempt staff positions at UP that do not meet this requirement.
The human resources office is working with University leaders to ensure that we comply with this change by the effective date. After gathering more information, HR will contact affected departments and employees.
In the meantime, persons who have questions should contact HR director Sandy Chung at chung@up.edu or x8987.
