mail bag dtime copyPresident’s day is celebrated this year on Monday, February 15, which means no incoming mail delivery, according to Mary Scroggins, mailing services. Outgoing mail must be received in the mail center by 2:30 p.m. to be taken to the downtown post office.

No Afternoon Mail on Dec. 18, 21

mail boxes dreamstime copyDue to staff holiday luncheons on December 18 and 21 there will be disruptions in mail and package services and mail center closures on those days. On Friday, December 18, from 12:30 to 3 p.m., there will be no afternoon deliveries of mail or packages to all campus locations due to the University Relations Christmas party. There will also be no afternoon mail service on Monday, December 21 due to the staff Christmas party. Please plan accordingly.

Fall Course Packs Due July 31

course packsAll faculty and instructors must turn in their course pack materials for fall semester to the printing services office by July 31, according to Mary Scroggins, printing services. The lead time is needed so printing services staff can obtain copyright permissions and organize the packs for production before the start of the fall 2015 semester. Some copyright requests take up to six weeks to obtain—please keep this in mind so staff are better able to serve everyone’s needs prior to the start of school.

Temporary Mail Receptacle In Buckley Center

mailpackagesA temporary mail receptacle is now located outside the mailbox area in Buckley Center, according to Mary Scroggins, mailing and printing services. Signage is in place for the mail drop. Please deposit all outgoing mail into this unit, and it will be sorted upon arrival at mailing services in Tyson Hall.

Breaking In A New Switchboard

operator copyThe mailing services office is working with a new switchboard, according to Mary Scroggins, mailing services. The new equipment has been experiencing some technical glitches, and campus personnel are asked to bear with them as they work to resolve these issues.

Come Wish Barbara Well, April 30

A farewell gathering is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. on that Thursday in the mailing and printing services office in Tyson Hall. Please stop by to wish Barbara well in her new endeavors and thank her for her expert, cheerful service and devotion.

Postal Rates Climbing, April 26

_1aMailThe Postal Regulatory Commission has approved first-class mail price adjustments, and new prices are scheduled to take effect on April 26, according to Mary Scroggins, mailing services.

For domestic mail, the Postal Service will maintain the price of the first-class mail stamp, which includes the Forever stamp, at $0.49. The single-piece additional ounce for letters will increase to $0.22, from $0.21. The price of postcards will increase to $0.35 from $0.34.

For international mail, outbound single-piece first-class mail international letters (first ounce) will increase from $1.15 to $1.20. Non-machinable outbound single-piece first-class mail international letters (first ounce) will increase from $1.15 to $1.42. Outbound single-piece first-class mail international postcards will increase from $1.15 to $1.20. Outbound single-piece first-class mail international large envelopes (flats, first ounce) will increase from $2.29 to $2.38.

Hey! Where Did They Go?

January 5, 2015

hPrinting services and mailing services have moved from their longtime spaces in Buckley Center to Tyson Hall. Due to the move, please remember that any jobs submitted to printing services after December 12 will be available for pickup on January 5, 2015.

Other things to remember:

  • Printing services still needs spring course packs. Please send orders to printing services as soon as possible, as orders were due on Friday, November 28.
  • Mailing services needs to have department names provided on the upper left hand corner of all mailings to chargeback and for postal regulations.

Printing and Mailing Services Closure: Dec. 16-18

December 15, 2014

hPrinting services and mailing services will be moving to Tyson Hall during the week of December 15. Mailing services will be not processing mail on Tuesday, December 16 through Thursday, December 18. Please be aware of these dates when scheduling mail deliveries to be taken to the Post Office or UPS/Fedex. Mailing services will continue to deliver inter-campus mail during these days.

Any jobs submitted to the print shop after December 12 will not be available for pickup until January 5, 2015. Printing services will not be accepting any jobs for copying, bindery, or printing during the time of their move.
