TIAA Representative Campus Visits Coming Up

A representative from TIAA, which administers the University’s retirement accounts, will be on campus the following dates and times:

Benefits Open Enrollment is Coming Up!

October 17, 2019

This year’s Open Enrollment will start on Friday, November 1, and run through Friday, November 22, 2019. All benefited employees are required to confirm or change their healthcare benefits during this time. During open enrollment, benefited employees can elect new flex spending amounts, add or change supplemental life insurance, as well as add or drop dependents from healthcare. Any changes made during open enrollment will go into effect January 1, 2020. All forms and plan documents will be posted on the Human Resources websites on November 1.

The Staff and Faculty Wellness Fair will be held on Tuesday, November 5, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Beauchamp Recreation and Wellness Center. Providers will be on hand to answer specific questions regarding benefits. There will also be community partners and internal departments on hand as well. Raffle tickets for a variety of prizes will be given to each employee who visits the Wellness Fair. Make sure to swing by!

Kaiser On-Site Flu Shot Clinic, October 9

October 4, 2019

Faculty and staff who are covered under the University’s Kaiser healthcare plans will have an opportunity to receive a flu vaccination onsite on Wednesday, October 9, from 10:30 to 1:30 p.m. The clinic will be held in Franz Hall room 120. You will need to bring your Kaiser Permanente card along with photo ID to receive a flu shot.

New IRS Retirement Contribution Limits

January 11, 2019

The 2019 employee contribution limits to 403(b) accounts have been set by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Employees can contribute up to $19,000 to their 403(b) plans in the 2019 calendar year. For those age 50 and over, an additional “catch-up” amount of $6,000 is allowed by the IRS for a total maximum limit of $25,000. Those who wish to change their individual retirement contributions for 2019 can do so by filling out the Voluntary Retirement Contribution Form on the Human Resources Benefits website and email the completed form back to benefits@up.edu.

You can also sign up for a TIAA counseling session with Rebecca Rohleder, who will be on campus during work hours starting Tuesday, January 29 through Thursday, January 31, in the Career Center at Orrico Hall. Open Enrollment Coming to a Close Nov. 20!

Open Enrollment ends at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 20. All benefited employees must confirm current coverage or request a change by this deadline. If you haven’t acted, please do so now by visiting the HR Open Enrollment page. During Open Enrollment, eligible employees can elect to enroll in Flexible Spending Accounts and Supplemental Life Insurance as well as add or drop dependents from healthcare. Those on Share the Savings need to fill out a new form each year.

UP Open Enrollment Period: November 1- 20

The Open Enrollment period for UP employee benefits is happening now and will end on Tuesday, November 20, at 4:30 p.m. All benefited employees are required to confirm or change their healthcare benefits during this time. During open enrollment, benefited employees can elect new Flex Spending amounts, add or change supplemental life insurance, as well as add or drop dependents from healthcare. Those on Share the Savings will need to submit new forms for 2019 enrollment. Any changes made during open enrollment will go into effect January 1, 2019. All forms can be found on the Open Enrollment website: Open Enrollment. There are new providers in 2019 for Life Insurance, Long Term Disability, and Flexible Spending Accounts.

Mandatory Professional Development Day, Oct. 15

October 12, 2018

This year, the University will be presenting professional development opportunities for all staff during fall break, October 15-18, 2018, according to Sandy Chung, human resources.

The sessions scheduled for Monday, October 15 are mandatory; all other sessions are optional and subject to availability. Please arrive at the Beauchamp Center by 9:15 a.m. HR will be recording the day’s activities and will make the recordings available in a couple of weeks for those who were unable to attend.

The mandatory Monday October 15 session is centered on diversity, inclusion, and equity. There will be a keynote by Julie Lythcott-Haims, former dean of first years at Stanford and author of Real American and How to Raise an Adult. Hours are 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with lunch provided. All optional sessions are listed in the RSVP form linked above.
