New Email Security Features Coming Oct. 16

October 6, 2017

As part of an ongoing effort to enhance the security of the University’s computing environment, information services will enable two new email security features. The new features, “safe links” and “safe attachments,” will help reduce the spread of malware due to malicious links or infected attachments which are often associated with email phishing attempts. These features will be enabled on October 16. Once enabled, when a user clicks a link or opens an attachment in an email, it will be carefully inspected and access allowed only after it is deemed safe. Any link or attachment that is identified as malicious will be blocked and the user will see a pop-up warning message. If you have any questions or concerns about the new features, please contact the help desk (help@up.edu or x7000).
