Diversity Dialogues 2020: Jan. 20-31

Mark your calendars now for Diversity Dialogues 2020, coming up January 20-31. Diversity Dialogues is programming designed to engage and educate the student body on issues, topics, and events related to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Faculty and staff are encouraged to attend and participate in the many engaging events and topics to be covered. Please also, think about giving out extra credit to encourage student participation.

Diversity Dialogues Events: Free and Open to All

The diversity and inclusion program will offer the following events as part of Diversity Dialogues, with UP clubs and organizations hosting an array of events to educate the community on diversity and inclusion. All events are free and open to the public. Come To International Night, Feb. 26

international weekAll are invited to attend the University of Portland’s International Night on Friday, February 26, from 5-8 p.m., in the Bauccio Commons. Enjoy an evening of international sights, sounds, tastes, and smells while traveling around the world with the diverse music and dance of local and regional performers. Professional performances from Filipina singer-songwriter Haley Heynderickx will begin at 6:15 p.m., and Mexican Folkloric music from Edna Vazquez and her band will begin at 7 p.m. International students will also be sharing their culture at the Showcase of Nations.

Enjoy live performances and the company of friends while savoring international dishes from Bon Appetit, priced a la carte. Admission to the show is free. Families are encouraged to attend. Performer and event updates will continue to be posted at www.up.edu/iew.

This event is hosted as part of Diversity Dialogues Week and is sponsored by the International Club, the Office of International Student Services, and ASUP.

Art of Diversity Contest

February 25, 2013

The Campus Connector program is seeking original art and photos for the “Art of Diversity” exhibition and contest, according to Gwen Guderjohn, international student services. In coordination with Diversity Dialogues Week, students, staff, and faculty are encouraged to submit an original art or photography that represents an aspect of human diversity. Art and photographs will be displayed in the international student lounge (Christie Hall room 020) and three winners will be chosen by audience selection. Join the Campus Connector coffee hour on Friday, March 1, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., for artwork viewing and discussion.
