Summer Construction Projects

May 5, 2014

hThe end of the school year marks the start of summer construction and repair efforts on campus, which will include:

  • Beauchamp Recreation and Wellness Center construction begins May 9, ends in July 2015. Fencing will be set up around the perimeter of the public safety block and the parking lot across from the Chiles center will be closed. Parking will be available in the main parking lot. Public Safety has relocated across the street to Haggerty 101. The TriMet bus stop (line #35) located on the corner of Portsmouth and Strong will be relocated across Willamette to the corner of Portsmouth and Willamette.
  • Tyson garage remodeling: starts in May, ends in September. Garage will be closed and remodeled into office space over the summer. The intent is for IT organization to move into this new space during fall semester.
  • Shipstad Hall: May-August. This summer the University will be replacing windows in Shipstad Hall with new double-pane windows.
  • Main entrance drive remodeling, May-August. The entrance will be repaved, the center median re-planted, and raised crosswalks will be added near Shipstad and the main parking lot turn to increase visibility and safety. One side of the driveway will be cloased at a time, and traffic will be limited to in-bound only. Exiting traffic will be asked to leave via the Portsmouth exit or the Kenna Hall exit.

Additional updates will be provided as projects are added. For more information contact university operations at landtiser@up.edu.
