University of Portland professor emerita Margaret Monahan Hogan will present a lecture, “Resistance: Its Costs and Its Limits,” on Wednesday, April 3, at 7 p.m., in Buckley Center room 163. Her talk is free and open to faculty, staff, students, and the public. Hogan’s presentation will provide a framework to consider the costs and limits of resistance. Her lecture will include Thomas Aquinas’ teachings on obedience; examples of resistance in recent history including the Kreisau Circle and its opposition to the Nazi Party during World War II; and present day religious liberty.
