Faculty and Staff Invited to Apply as Opus Prize Ambassadors

October 13, 2017

The University of Portland is the host partner for the selection and presentation of the 2018 Opus Prize, which recognizes faith-based humanitarian leaders addressing some of the world’s most persistent social problems.

As part of this honor, the University seeks three of its full-time faculty or staff to participate in due diligence site visits with six UP students and members of the Opus Prize Foundation during the spring of 2018. These site visits will be to meet and engage with three finalists under consideration for the Opus Prize. There will be a total of three site visits, and one faculty or staff person and two students will be assigned to each of these delegations. Locations of the site visits will be determined in spring 2018.

Faculty/staff ambassador responsibilities include a commitment of pre-travel preparation, week-long travel in March or May of 2018, and participation in award activities on campus and in Portland in November of 2018.  Student ambassadors are being selected this semester through a separate protocol. A committee of campus and community members will serve as the selection body for faculty/staff ambassadors.

The deadline to submit an application is Tuesday, October 31, 2017.

Learn more about the faculty/staff ambassador roles and how to apply by visiting the UP Opus Prize website. You can learn more about the Opus Prize, the Opus Prize Foundation values, and past award recipients atwww.opusprize.org.
