Office 2016 Upgrade Plans for Academic Units

August 5, 2016

Office2016Information services is hard at work on the all campus rollout of Microsoft Office 2016. Staff and administrative department trainings are wrapping up and IS staff are looking ahead to rolling out the new software to the academic units. The goal is to complete updates prior to the start of fall term. Information services is committed to providing the training and resources to ensure a smooth upgrade process and to get the most out of the new software. With that in mind they are offering multiple training sessions the week of August 15. The sessions will cover the software upgrade process, as well as give a hands on demonstration of new features.

Sign Up for a Session

Departmental support and administrative staff are encouraged to sign up and attend a session. Please also feel free to invite any faculty who are present and able to attend a session. Many faculty will not be returning until the beginning of fall term, and many may be jumping right in to final class preparations with little time to spare for Office updates. As faculty return and are updated to the new software, IS will be offering help desk support and on-demand training resources (help sheets, quick start guides, videos). IS also hopes that departmental support staff who have received training can act as peer support for the very straightforward and user friendly upgrade process.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Help Desk at help@up.edu or x7000. If academic staff or faculty can’t make it to any of the scheduled sessions but would like training, please reach out to Ben Kahn at kahn@up.edu to make alternative arrangements.

Campus Resource Fair, Aug. 17

August 5, 2016

rose copyThe Office of Residence Life is hosting a Campus Resource Fair during their hall staff training in August, and all departments are invited to participate. The Resource Fair is on Wednesday, August 17, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., on the quiet side of the Bauccio Commons. This is an excellent opportunity to connect resident assistants (RAs) to as many departments on campus as possible and, in return, for RAs to assist in getting each department’s name and services out to campus residents. To schedule a table at this year’s Campus Resource Fair, please contact Bryn Rose at roseb@up.edu by Friday, August 12.
