Have You Considered Becoming a Dexheimer Leadership Fellow?

July 28, 2017

The Franz Center is providing free leadership training and development during the 2017-18 academic year for faculty and staff who want to learn more about becoming a Dexheimer Leadership Fellow. There are over 70 faculty and staff from across the University who have been trained as Dexheimer Leadership Fellows, and the Franz Center would like to include 40 additional faculty and staff, who will begin their training next fall. Dexheimer Leadership Fellows serve as instructors and coaches in the Leader Certificate Program and earn a stipend of $2,500 for their teaching or coaching. We are able to include only exempt (salaried) employees in the program at this time. To participate, nominate a colleague, or for more information, contact Dave Houglum, director for leadership in the Franz Center, at houglum@up.edu by July 31.

New Anti-Virus Software: SCEP

July 14, 2017

Over the next several weeks, information services will be transitioning university-owned computers from Symantec Endpoint Protection to Microsoft’s System Center Endpoint Protection (SCEP) for virus prevention and detection.

UP’s license for Symantec will end in late July 2017, so every university-owned computer will need to be upgraded to SCEP. Not upgrading the anti-virus software will potentially expose computers and university data to unnecessary and preventable threats.

Information Services will be updating most university-owned systems automatically. For more information about this transition and recommendations for updating personal computers currently using Symantec from UP’s software download center, please see this  Knowledge Base article.

If you have questions or need more information, please contact the help desk at x7000 or help@up.edu.

All-Campus Computer Inventory

July 14, 2017

Technical services will be performing an on-site, physical inventory of all campus computers and monitors this summer. To achieve this, we will have a student staff member entering all offices and work spaces in order to collect asset tag and location information. If you are on campus, this interruption will take less than one minute. If you are away from your office, we will enter your office for the inventory and leave a “calling card” indicating we were there. Thank you in advance for helping us inventory our assets.

Questions? Contact the help desk at extension 7000 or help@up.edu
