Cascadia Tsunami Geology Annotated Photo

September 10, 2012 By Kyle

This photo shows the interpretation of the geologic layers of the “three-layer cake” of Cascadia tsunami geology. It is the same photograph as the large poster-size photo titled “Cascadia Tsunami Geology Poster-Size Photo” and “Cascadia Tsunami Geology Small-Size Photo” but with labels on the photo. Of particular note is the tsunami sand layer that contains multiple graded beds that record the multiple waves of the tsunami produced by the 1700 Great Cascadia subduction zone earthquake.
